The Areza Silver Foam Wound Dressing with Adhesive Border is a composite dressing composed of a sterile polyurethane (PU) foam coated with 0.25-0.35mg/cm2 of antibacterial ionic silver. The foam is backed on one side with a bordered adhesive waterproof PU, eliminating the need for a secondary dressing. This dressing is suitable for use in the treatment of infected wounds with partial to full-thickness tissue loss, due to its antibacterial properties, high absorbency, and adhesive backing. The dressing creates an ideal moist healing environment. Moist wound environment is known to expedite the wound healing. The antibacterial effect of this dressing may last for up to 7 days, and is more prominent in the first few days of its application. The silver in this dressing has been demonstrated to be effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The bacteria that it has been proven to be effective against include Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
