Areza Calcium Alginate is made of natural fibers that are derived from seaweed through a series of special processes. The dressing is designed to be highly absorbent, rapidly absorbing exudates and forming a gel-like covering through a process of ion exchange over the wound, which maintains a moist environment for wound healing. Moist wound therapy is known to help with wound healing. The dressing is soft and conformable, making it easy to pack, tuck or apply over irregular-shaped wounds. The gel-like surface of the dressing also keeps it from adhering to the wound, allowing for painless removal. It is indicated for wounds with moderate to heavy exudate, such as pressure ulcers, infected wounds, and venous insufficiency ulcers. It is important to note that alginates require a secondary dressing to be secured on the wound.
